2017 Rose Queen selected
Temple City High School Senior Victoria “Tori” Cecilia Castellanos, 17, earned honors Thursday night as the 2017 Rose Queen.
She will take part in the annual parade, which rolls down Colorado Boulevard Jan. 2.
Castellanos lives in Temple City and is the first Rose Queen from there in several years, officials said.
Castellanos was chosen for the role from a group of seven members of the Tournament of Roses Royal Court.
She has been a part of Brighterside Singers since her sophomore year and has been in five Temple City High School musicals. Tori volunteers with the Pasadena Humane Society, Zooh Corner at Petco and the American Legion in Eagle Rock.
Castellanos enjoys writing short stories, reading, painting, collecting antiques and thrift shopping with her mom. Tori plans to study English, Musical Theater, and Japanese and would like to attend Amherst College or Smith College.
