Cal Phil cancels summer concerts
The California Philharmonic announced the cancellation of its summer concert series at Santa Anita via internet post and the group removed a web page about upcoming events from its site.
The undated announcement said the Cal Phil orchestra, led by conductor Victor Veneer, will continue to play Sunday matinees at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Veneer was not available for further comment.
“This is a very sad situation for everyone involved,” the Cal Phil announcement reads. “Because of the immense expense incurred producing the outdoor events, we are unable to continue with them at present.”
Yelp! reviews of the Cal Phil concert series have been mostly positive.
Even though the group and its leader Victor Veneer will move on, outdoor shows by the Pasadena Symphony and Pops will continue through the summer at the Los Angeles County Arboretum.
Cal Phil urged patrons will questions to reach out via email at email@example.com or telephone at (626) 304 0333.
