Retired Fire Capt. memorial services announced

Services have been announced for retired Fire Captain John Rooks, who passed away on August 11 at 53. Rooks served in the Monrovia Fire Department for 29 years and retired in November 2015.

A viewing will be held on August 26 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Habra at 9 a.m., and Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Rook also coached and was board member of the La Habra Little League, according to an obituary published by the OC Register.

Instead of flowers, Rook’s family has asked that donations be made to the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial. Interested parties may donate by clicking on the following link:
