County Fair registration closes in Monrovia
Monrovia Community Services is offering a day trip to the Los Angeles County Fair on Sep. 16. Registration for the event ends on Friday at midnight, and anyone over 40 years of age is encouraged to apply. Registration costs $20, and can be paid either in person or online.
Attendees will leave Monrovia at 11 a.m. (not 9 a.m., as originally advertised on Monrovia Today) and return to town at 4 p.m. A bus chartered by the city will take them to the County Fair, where they can enjoy the best in deep-fried foods, amusement rides and other attractions.
Recreation Specialist Natalya Romo said that the day will involve heavy walking, and potential attendees should keep this in mind. And although two chaperones from Community Services will also go to the fair with them, attendees will be left to their own devices while there.
This trip is geared towards Monrovians over 40 who are interested in finding new ways to see sights around Los Angeles County. Earlier this year, Community Services sponsored trips using the Metro Gold Line. The County Fair has become an annual trip for Monrovia’s Community Services department, but it won’t be the only one this year. In December, seniors can also enjoy an outing to the Festival of Lights at the Mission Inn Hotel and Spa in Riverside. That trip is scheduled for Dec. 5 and costs $15.
