Monrovia Renewal Closes Roads Across Town
On Monday night through Tuesday morning, Myrtle Avenue was closed for repaving between Huntington Drive and Central Avenue. Central Avenue will be closed in the same manner, starting at 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday night and reopening on Wednesday morning. That closure will affect the stretch of road between Mountain Avenue and Shamrock Avenue.
Both streets will have additional work done throughout this week and in the early part of May.
City Manager Oliver Chi said that the late-night work hours were chosen because these streets are some of the busiest in Monrovia.
Projected to be completed in 2020, Monrovia Renewal is the largest public works project that the City has ever undertaken, and is funded through a water and sewer rate increase. The next phase of construction will take place south of the I-210 and the northwest region of town.
