PASADENA — A leading floral design group announced that Fiesta Parade Floats won its 2016 Award of Merit for participation in the annual Rose Parade.

The American Institute of Floral Designers awarded Fiesta earlier this week at a ceremony in Anaheim. organizers say the award is considered to be one of the highest honors given by the institute and recognizes generous support and promotion of the institute and its members.

“It is truly humbling to be recognized by an organization that is made up of outstanding individuals that are at the forefront of the floral industry,” said Tim Estes, president of Fiesta Parade Floats. “We could not be more honored to received this award.”

The award has only been presented 34 times since the Tournament of Roses Association, which operates the annual Rose Parade, received it in 1974.
Last year Fiesta Parade Floats floral director,Jim Hynd Jr., was named the recipient of AIFD’s award for distinguished service. Hynd has designed many Rose Parade floats.
