Could Monrovia’s Street Fair be on the Move?

Monrovia’s Friday Night Family Street Fair could move from Myrtle Avenue to Library Park in June.

Monrovia could move the Friday Night Family Street Fair from its current location along Myrtle Avenue to Library Park and adjacent streets. The move is being planned for June 30.

Myrtle Avenue would still be closed from Lime Avenue to Palm Avenue. Palm Avenue between Primrose Avenue and Myrtle Avenue would also be shut down during the fair, along with Lime Avenue on the other side of the park.

The street fair, which currently takes place along a three-block section of Myrtle Avenue from Lemon Avenue to Walnut Avenue, is being moved to coincide with a variety of the City’s summer events. Those events, such as the 4th of July fireworks event, the Summer Concert Series, and the Friday Night Live Summer Teen Program, are a mainstay of the city’s summer programming.

According to City Manager Oliver Chi, Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board, the Community Services Commission, and the Library Board have all been involved in discussions with Raw Inspiration, the company that produces the fair. City staff is soliciting feedback from the community, and the matter will be discussed at City Council later this month.
