Weekend events lead to Pasadena traffic
Three weekend events are promising bumper-to-bumper traffic in Pasadena on Saturday and Sunday. Irish rock band U2 will be playing sold-out concerts both days, while the Jet Propulsion Laboratory hosts its
two-day annual Open House. On Saturday, the Amgen Tour of California will bring one of cycling’s biggest events through Pasadena.
The Interstate 210 is predicted to be especially clogged by the City Manager’s office, according to the monthly Pasadena in Focus newsletter. The areas around the Rose Bowl and JPL will likely see the most traffic, which will last all day due to the event schedules.
However, even street traffic will be affected on Saturday, when the Tour of California leads to road closures in the afternoon. North Los Robles Avenue will be closed from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., with West Woodbury Road, East Colorado Boulevard, South Madison Avenue and East Green Street also seeing smaller closures within that timeframe. No parking zones will also be enforced from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that same day.
The City encouraged drivers to use Lake Avenue, Fair Oaks Avenue, and Cordova Street to navigate the city. Additionally, several crossing points will be available on Fair Oaks Avenue (see map).
